Why is it that all are not saved, particularly all who hear the Gospel? Do you still answer, Because the majority refuse to believe? Well, that is true, but it is only a part of the truth. It is the truth FROM THE HUMAN SIDE. But there is a DIVINE SIDE too, and this side of the truth needs to be stressed or

God will be robbed of His glory. The unsaved are lost because they refuse to believe; the others are saved because they believe. But why do these others believe? What is it that causes them to put their trust in Christ? Is it because they are more intelligent than their fellows, and quicker to discern their need of salvation? Perish the thought—

“WHO maketh thee to differ from another? And what hast thou that thou didst not RECEIVE? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” (1 Corinthians 4:7).

It is GOD HIMSELF WHO MAKETH THE DIFFERENCE between the elect and the non-elect, for of His own it is written,

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is true” (1 John 5:20).

Now all will acknowledge that from the foundation of the world God certainly fore-knew and fore-saw who would and who would not receive Christ as their Savior, therefore in giving being and birth to those He knew would reject Christ, He necessarily created them unto damnation. All that can be said in reply to this is, No, while God did foreknow these ones would reject Christ, yet He did not decree that they should. But this is a begging of the real question at issue. God had a definite reason why He created men, a specific purpose why He created this and that individual, and in view of the eternal destination of His creatures, He purposed either that this one should spend eternity in Heaven or that this one should spend eternity in the Lake of Fire. If then He foresaw that in creating a certain person that that person would despise and reject the Savior, yet knowing this beforehand He, nevertheless, brought that person into existence, then it is clear He designed and ordained that that person should be eternally lost.

Again; faith is God’s gift, and the purpose to give it only to some, involvesthe purpose not to give it to others. Without faith there is no salvation—

“He that believeth not shall be damned”— hence if there were some of Adam’s descendants to whom He purposed not to give faith, it must be because He ordained that they should be damned.

  1. Mike-I know you by your post’s and threads at the ChristianChatForum, run by Ken and Wendel. My member name there is Dixon. I always was impressed with your abililty to make informative/teaching type posts and articles. You have xlnt. computer skills and appear to be a faithful student of the Word, Read some from this site a few weeks ago. also.
My last post at the CCF site was only half of what I actually sent. Apparently Ken has no qualms with deleting parts he doesn’t like. My last post there reads very scattered and nonsensical, being so taken out of context. Problem is, he”s cut off my access to most of that site and any post I submit just won’t post, or as in the example of my last post, he actually deletes parts, leaves others. He seems to think he’s being personally attacked and “called names”. Apparently he’s of the opinion race is a big factor in Bible history/prophecy, I’m not of that opinion at all. I read ALL the posts in that thread he started (you’ve probably seen it?) about God’s Chosen People, and I did post that I’m of the opinion he is racebaiting. I have plenty of, in my opinion, valid, Biblically based points in opposition to the case he is trying to make. When I pointed out where he’d cut up my post, and proved it by pointing out where one could tell it had been edited, he re-edited the post and removed the part I had pointed out to him. I can explain it to you in detail if your interested.
I plan to continue to follow that thread to see what develops-but can no longer tell what new posts are posted, wherever, by whoever. The message Ken gave me, was that my posts would need approval before posting (editing?) and would be rejected if I said anything about racebaiting, if I called anyone “names” (I never did) or, if I say anything about a post being edited. Navigating the site is basically now impossible.
Wendels address reads something with “separatist”- wendell@separatist.com., I think it is. I assumed it meant separate from the world, as in called out by Christ. I realize now it may very well mean by race, or in any case, something other than what I originally thought.
That’s about the best splainin I can do of whats going on. If you have the time, my e-mail is; tocrjr@gmail.com
I would also like to talk with Steve if you have any way of contacting him. He’s also a beliver, I’m thinking. I also think he gave you a pretty good reply about your caveman question. What do you think?
I’ll probably try some posting to stay with the site, at least for awhile, to see just what kind of grudge Ken holds.
I’m new to and lousy with -computers-whats a avatar?

  2. Hey Rob, forgive me if I missed the point, but is AW Pink saying that God created people for the purpose of being damned? If this be the case, then what about the scriptures like Matthew 18:12, 13, saying He doesn’t want ANY to perish? Unless I am way off, I half to wonder about this person.

    God Bless,

    • PJ, you have said – “If this be the case, then what about the scriptures like Matthew 18:12, 13, saying He doesn’t want ANY to perish?”

First of all, Matthew 18:12,13, do not say that God does not want any to perish. There the Lord speaks about a man who had a hundred sheep and if one of them were to be lost, he goes into the mountains, finds it, saves it, and comes back rejoicing.

In case you are not aware of this: the human race is sovereignly divided into two categories – sheep and goats! The sheep are those whom God has chosen before the foundation of the world to be His own and the goats are those whom He has not thus chosen!

Both the sheep and goats come into the world in the very same condition – as sinners, guilty of the original sin of their father Adam and are born enemies of God! They are both born, dead in trespasses and sins and have no desire for God or righteousness! But in His appointed time God quickens (makes alive) the sheep whom he has chosen to salvation so that they repent and believe the ‘gospel’ and are saved! And many a time these sheep whom God has saved, do go astray, but God in His mercy goes after them finds them and saves them!

But the verse you have quoted that “God is not willing that any should perish” is from 2 Peter 3:9, and that verse reads –

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”.

We should ask the question – “whom are the “US-WARD” in this verse?- The human race, or God’s own people? In the light of the context this is not an open question upon which each of us is free to form an opinion. The Holy Spirit has defined it. The opening verse of the chapter says, “This second Epistle, beloved, I now write unto you.” And again, the verse immediately preceding declares, “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing etc.,” (The “us-ward” then are the “beloved” of God. They to whom this Epistle is addressed are “them that have obtained (not “exercised,” but “obtained” as God’s Sovereign gift) like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:1). Therefore we say there is no room for a doubt, a quibble or an argument-the “us-ward” are the elect of God, His sheep.”

But, you say, “does not the Bible say that God is not a respecter of persons”?

In fact objectors to God’s Sovereign Election always love to quote this verse, as though that would nullify and prove false the fact that God elects some to salvation. –

“For there is no respect of persons with God”! [Romans 2:11]

So what does it mean when the Scripture says that ‘God is not a respecter or persons’?

A “respecter of persons” is one who, acting as judge, does not treat those who come before him according to their character, but who withholds from some WHAT IS JUSTLY THEIRS AND GIVES TO OTHERS WHAT IS NOT JUSTLY THEIRS — one who is governed by prejudice and sinister motives, rather than by justice and law. The Scriptures deny that God is a respecter of persons in this sense; and if the doctrine of Predestination represented God as doing these things, we admit that it would charge Him with injustice.

First of all we need to see the truth that ALL MEN ARE ALREADY JUDGED AND CONDEMNED IN ADAM. God does not owe them ANYTHING, but HELL! If He had so determined, He could have condemned the whole human race to hell according to His justice and none would question Him as to “what doest Thou”? [Dan 4:35] This should not sound as strange to anyone seeing that He condemned ALL the angels that sinned to an eternal hell without any mercy or redemption.

When we speak of salvation, we are speaking of mercy and grace, and neither of them can be claimed as a right! Mercy is God’s property and He can give it to whomsoever He chooses! “Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with MINE OWN? Is thine eye evil, because I am good”? [Matt 20:15]

The love of the father is a DISCRIMINATIVE love! It CHOOSES whom to love and whom to hate. Jacob have I loved, Esau have I hated! [Rom 9:13]

In the same line He chooses on whom He will have mercy and on whom He will harden! [Rom 9:18]

If God was dealing with a BUNCH OF INNOCENT MEN AND WOMEN THIS WOULD SEEM UNJUST! But God is dealing with a FALLEN bunch of GOD HATERS WHO ARE HIS ENEMIES (see Rom 5:10), and if there is anything He owes them it is HELL!

So out of this ‘Hell-Deserving’ bunch or ‘lump’ He chooses to display His unconditional mercy on some and the rest He ordains to eternal damnation which they rightly deserve!

These are the facts! If you are really saved sooner or later God will show you this truth!
If the Father was choosing everyone and drawing everyone as some suppose, then, scriptures like these make no sense –
“Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in Thy courts”! [Psa 65:4]

Notice that these few whom the Father loves, He not only ‘CHOOSES’, but ‘CAUSES’ to approach unto Him!

Fallen man is so depraved that just ‘choosing him’ is not going to save him!! God must ‘CAUSE’ him to approach!
In other words, the Father must not only choose or elect those whom He loves, but He must DRAW them to Christ!

And He does not draw all, because He has not chosen all. And He has not chosen all, because He has not loved all!
